Session 1 - 2/2/2024

  • Yoga originated in ancient India and focuses on the joining together of mind, body, and spirit through three main practices: postures, breathing and meditation. It can help you cope with stress, develop flexibility, balance, and coordination, and improve wellbeing. Join Aura Lehrer, Owner of Vastu Health, to learn Heart-based yoga which utilizes the practice of yoga to cultivate and create an inner conversation that builds on self-acceptance and love. Movement, breathwork and affirmations are used in this practice.

  • When thoughtfully cultivated, sound and vibration have the power to relax and restore us at our deepest level. Nicole Allegretti is a certified level 2 sound practitioner with the international academy of sound healing. She is grateful to share the peace and benefits of sound with you! Nicole is also a licensed acupuncturist, owner of Positive Life Acupuncture, certified herbalist, and writer.

  • In the chakra system, the throat is the gateway between the lower and the upper chakras. It is very often tight, constricted, and blocked. We struggle to speak our truth, to put words to what we feel in our hearts. The voice is how we connect our gut intuition and our emotional heart to our wisdom and foresight. It is how we connect our insides with the world outside our physical bodies. In this workshop, Jody Weatherstone, founder and owner of Soma Voce, will use breath and voice exercises to free up this channel. By connecting the diaphragmatic chain using the breath and sound, participants will leave empowered to use their unique vocal fingerprint.

Session 2 - 2/9/2024

  • The Mandala, part of Hindu and Buddhist practice, represents the inner journey. Using the Mandala as an inspiration, local professional artist, Pat Foxx, will help you create your own design using watercolor paints, with colorful shapes around a central point. This mindful activity creates a relaxed and centered experience. All materials, paper, paints, brushes, will be provided. Pat Foxx has been teaching for many years in the libraries of the tri-county area and her art has been exhibited in the Hudson Valley and beyond.

  • Music Journeying is a receptive listening experience. Join musician, Stacey L. Rosen, for a wonderful musical experience that leads to a sense of peace and calm, and possibly provides a deeper understanding of self or about an issue you face. Starting with a guided relaxation exercise, participants are then prepared for their own unique journey with music as a guide. Following the listening experience, those in attendance will be given an opportunity to journal and to share their experience.

Session 3 - 2/16/2024

  • The practice of Zen is expressed in silent, seated meditation called Zazen. Zen is the Japanese transliteration of the Chinese word Chan, which in turn is the transliteration of the Sanskrit word Dhyana, which means concentration. Zen practice is very simple: sit down, be quiet, and pay attention.

Join Jacob Seiryo Gendelman, local Zen Priest, who will present the basics of Zen practice, and help us express and hold together the container of this practice in periods of zazen. Jacob shared that with any form of meditation, we need a focus, something we can bring our minds back to again and again as they start to wander to thoughts of yesterday, tomorrow, anywhere but here. Come learn how by following our breath we can let our thoughts come and go without being carried away by them.

  • Mantras are powerful phrases, words, or sounds repeated either silently or aloud to aid in meditation, self-reflection, and personal growth. Join Angela Hassan in the practice of Kirtan, where with her lovely voice, she will lead participants through this Bhakti yoga practice and get us singing mantras to focus the mind and open the heart. Through the repetition of these mantras, Angela will reveal to us how we can purify the heart, practice presence, and awaken to the unconditional, and natural love that lives within us.

Angela Hassan and Zen Priest, Jacob Gendelman will alternate periods of Zazen with Kirtan to blend the practices.

Session 4 - 2/23/2024

  • Join Fran Medina RN, empowerment coach and healer, to learn a transformative mind body tool that will help you make progress in your career, health, relationships, and in life. The Emotional Freedom Technique, known as EFT or Tapping, is a tool discovered in the 1970’s by psychologist, Roger Callahan. EFT is a clinically proven acupressure tapping method for clearing stress, anxiety, and emotional and physical issues. Fran is also the host and creator of the podcast “It’s Messy But It’s So Good.”

  • Qigong, pronounced “chi gong,” was developed in China thousands of years ago and involves exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit. Join Tim Arculli, founder of Outer Limits System (OLS) Qigong, to learn simple, efficient, and effective tips which can immediately aid with anxiety, stress, and overthinking. Tim will also show the importance of the mind/body connection, relaxation, and how to feel your body's own energy.
