The first step in participating with We the People Warwick (WTPW) is to take part in our dialogue series which is designed to engage participants in activities that build trust, lead to respectful conversation, give voice to community issues, and provide an opportunity to take coordinated action. Dialogue series are made available in the spring and fall.

WTPW’s Dialogue Series Further Explained

Toward a More Perfect Union in An Age of Diversity

Our Level 1 Dialogue Series utilizes both Essential Partners’ Reflective Structured Dialogue (RSD) framework and the discussion guide, Toward a More Perfect Union in An Age of Diversity from Everyday Democracy, a national leader in civic participation and community change. Each session is focused on a theme and structured to create group experiences that help us see those who are different, not through the lens of a label, but as human beings with many stories.

Led by trained peer facilitators, the series uses a variety of exercises to teach participants strategies for improved communication and finding common ground. Incorporating components of Essential Partners’ Reflective Structured Dialogue helps WTPW achieve its goal to build relationships across differences, reduce polarization, deepen belonging, and create more inclusive, dynamic, collaborative cultures in the spaces where people live, work, worship, and learn.

While the dates and times vary, each Dialogue Series involves small groups of 8-10 people meeting for a total of about eight hours spread out over either two or four days and multiple weeks.

Following the dialogue series, participants are introduced to our WTPW Action Teams and their current community initiatives. Participants are asked to consider whether any of the Action Teams' missions resonate and align with work they'd like to be a part of on an ongoing basis in pursuit of WTPW's goal to find common ground and a sense of belonging among all people of our community.
