  • Mantras are powerful phrases, words, or sounds repeated either silently or aloud to aid in meditation, self-reflection, and personal growth. Join Angela Hassan in the practice of Kirtan, where with her lovely voice, she will lead participants through this Bhakti yoga practice and get us singing mantras to focus the mind and open the heart. Through the repetition of these mantras, Angela will reveal to us how we can purify the heart, practice presence, and awaken to the unconditional and natural love that lives within us.

  • Incorporating the skills of mindfulness and deep breathing, participants will explore how yoga can help strengthen our physical and emotional resilience.

Using a chair for support makes the beneficial movement of yoga accessible to all. In addition to 500 hours RYT training in Vinyasa style yoga, Margaret Johnson holds certifications in Silver Age Yoga and Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga. She has advanced training in Senior, Yogalates, Restorative, and Yin Yoga. As a registered nurse for over 30 years in the fields of Behavioral Health and Addiction Services, she understands the importance of good health and how proper relaxation and activity impacts emotional and spiritual well-being. Margaret’s classes are designed for anyone looking for a comprehensive, safe, and gentle practice that emphasizes the joy of being alive.

  • Join us for a Mettā Dance Party, where loving-kindness meditation meets dance! We'll begin with a brief introduction to loving-kindness (mettā), followed by a guided meditation to cultivate love, joy, peace, and positive energy. Then we’ll transition into a vibrant dance party featuring music intentionally curated to support the practice of mettā in motion by dancing your heart out. It’s a celebration of self-love, connection, and movement—come ready to groove and spread love in every step!

In restorative yoga, props are used to support the body in a selection of poses, held for a number of minutes each, to allow a release of tension and stress, leading to a sense of well-being.

  • The Mandala, part of Hindu and Buddhist practice, represents the inner journey. Using the Mandala as an inspiration, local professional artist, Pat Foxx, will help you create your own design using watercolor paints with colorful shapes around a central point. This mindful activity creates a relaxed and centered experience. All materials, paper, paints, brushes, will be provided. Pat Foxx has been teaching for many years in the libraries of the tri-county area and her art has been exhibited in the Hudson Valley and beyond.

  • Circle singing is a community gathering of all musical abilities coming together to create sound through musical and rhythmic improvisational games. Through vocal play, we strengthen our listening and trust in our creative impulses. The voice is how we connect our gut intuition and emotional heart to our wisdom and foresight. It is how we connect our insides with the world outside our physical bodies. In this workshop, Jody Weatherstone, founder and owner of Soma Voce, will lead the group in a non-judgmental, mistake-free exploration of group vocal improvisation.

  • Everybody wants to be happy and free from problems, but few of us experience genuine, lasting happiness or are free from pain and dissatisfaction. Join us for a talk and meditation with Buddhist teacher, Rebecca Rehorn. Rebecca is passionate about sharing Buddha’s teachings to help others gain an experience of inner spaciousness and peace. Rebecca has taught at Kadampa Meditation Center in Glen Spey, NY and has maintained a Branch Class for nearly 14 years.
