Social Emotional Wellness Team Vision
A thriving, supportive community
Mission
To expand our capacity for personal well-being and community by promoting opportunities for residents to experience the joy and satisfaction that flow from fulfilling our deep and universal need for connection, safety and belonging
We Recognize
A community is essentially built upon the foundation of relationships between its members:
Community members possess the agency to create the kind of community they wish to live in.
Relationships are the core of a community, providing a sense of belonging, support, and shared purpose.
Individual connections between people, whether through friendship, family ties, shared interests, or just neighborly interactions, build up a community.
Strong community relationships can contribute to social cohesion, a stronger sense of identity and improved overall wellbeing.
Social health is the dimension of overall health and well-being that comes from connection and community.
People who feel connected to a community are reported to experience lower levels of stress, anxiety and depression.
Our Goals
To identify, advocate and facilitate events and initiatives which allow community members to have a felt experience of connection, safety, and belonging:
Highlight individual and collective actions/events that already exist in our community.
Promote the creation of neighborhood gatherings.
Create a local network (Time Bank) where neighbors share skills, resources, and services to support each other.
Emphasize the value of diversity to bridge gaps between generations and cultures, fostering deeper connections within neighborhoods.
Compile/post a resource list of ways to strengthen bonds within our community.
Increase the mental health resilience of our community/members.
Through highlighting current group efforts and promoting a wide range of community-building opportunities, we seek to make Warwick a place where all residents feel seen, heard, and valued.
